Posing for the camera

Brady was full of energy today during Sacrament Meeting and it carried over to his visit tonight. I am beginning to think that he sees the camera as a fun toy (which it is in a sense right?) When I would call his name he would come to the camera lens and quickly try to run away when it would flash. Of course I enjoyed taking lots of pics of him, and since my internet speed is sooooooo slow I have only chosen a couple to upload. Enjoy!

Crocheted with love by Nikki

It's photo time again. Can't believe that Emma is already 3 weeks! The pretty dress that she is wearing and the matching blanket were handmade by Nikki Roddy. She also has a matching bonnet but it got left at home. When Nikki first showed us the dress, I was quite doubtful that it would fit. It just seemed so small. I was thinking that maybe it would fit on her doll one day or that she could put it in her shadow box of special items, but I sure didn't think it would fit. Surprise! Our little 6 pound sweetie can wear it comfortably. I think Emma and the dress go quite well together!

Replaced? Never in a million years!

Does this look like a face that could be replaced? I agree.....never in a million years! I have been kidded by Jason that I have replaced Brady with Emma. He jokes with Brady and I that Brady now has to step aside since Emma's arrival. There will be no replacing anybody with anybody and there will be no stepping aside. I love both of these little angels just as much as I love Terica's baby and I haven't even got to hold him yet! Even though I know he is kidding, I cringe at the thought of having to go through round two of now having my grandchildren think I love one more than the other. I will do everything I can to make sure that each of these babies, and the babies in the future, feel an equal amount of my love! So, Brady, Emma, and Connor (if Terica can hold her ground, this will be the baby's name) I just want you to know one important thing.....I love all 3 of you equally and I would challenge anyone to try and prove otherwise!

Pretty in Pink!

Even though the outfit is a little big, she just looked so cute with all her pink! Amy Garvin taught Afton and I how to make hair bows and this is one that Afton made. We are trying to bring out the artsy craftsy part of her since I caused her to bury it along time ago during a scrapbooking episode! But that's another story! I got to go with Afton to take Emma to her 2 week checkup. Dr. DeKay said she was doing well, but since she is a sleeper now He wants Afton to wake her up every three hours and feed her instead of letting her sleep from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am like she did the other night. He has given her the name of the plastic surgeon he highly recommends to repair the cleft lip. From what we know at this point, she has to be a minimum of 10 pounds and at least 2 months before it can be done. The pictures make her cleft seem to be a bit more severe than it actually is but I just can't figure out how to avoid emphasizing it. Maybe Sherrie can teach me a few pointers!

Everything's a Kodak moment!

I can't help but wonder if she is trying to tell me that she doesn't want everything to be a kodak moment in her life! Surely not...........hopefully she will let me take lots of pics like Brady does!

Come what may and love it!

Getting used to being a mommy to two little ones has been a bit overwhelming to Afton and Jason. Especially since Emma seems to be a bit colicky. I took the November 08 Ensign to Afton because I wanted her to read the message from Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin titled COME WHAT MAY AND LOVE IT. When I read the message I decided to repeat these words when things go a little haywire in my life, so I felt she would benefit from it also.

As you can see by the upside down bowl of captain crunch, things went a little haywire at breakfast time. I was taking care of Emma and Afton was on the phone with Shannon Haderlie getting some words of encouragement and tips for colic, when Brady picked up the bowl and dumped it out. I thought about Grandma Syl and how she would have reacted to the cereal being dumped on her coffee table and then headed for the floor; which prompted my first reaction to jump and not let it get all over, but the message popped into my mind and I just said to myself, "COME WHAT MAY AND LOVE IT." Afton grabbed a towel, and I of course grabbed my camera, declaring this a blogging moment!

We laughed when we saw Brady bend his head down and try to drink the milk off the table! It is amazing how one sees things so different from a Grandparent's perspective! ahhhh, COME WHAT MAY AND LOVE IT!

All of Emma's clothes are way too big for her. We have had to get preemie outfits for her. This dress was given to Emma from Melanie McGee for Afton's shower. Afton chose this dress to be her Easter dress. The dress was way to big but Afton is excited that she will get to wear it for awhile!

Brady and his Easter Eggs

What a handsome little guy, all dressed up for Easter! He thought finding Easter Eggs was pretty cool. He wouldn't put the eggs down to look for more. Don't you just want to kiss his cheeks when you see him? I do!

She discovered her fingers!

I love how she gently placed her fingers in her mouth. She is so precious!

Happy 1st Easter Lil Miss Emma

Already a week old! I love this pic of Emma, she looks like she is praying!

Besides picking up sticks, he also enjoyed picking up straw. He would try to feed the sheep, and when they wouldn't eat from his hand, he would chew on the straw himself. We really had a good time on our field trip to Annes. I would post a picture of her but she threatened me with my life if I took a pic of her, so sorry! no pics of Ms. Anne!

Here we are trying to get Brady to hold one of the baby lambs. He really liked them, on his own terms, and that didn't include holding them.

When we were walking in the pasture, he liked picking up sticks. Doesn't he look like a little sheepherder?

More fun with the sheep

Brady really enjoyed being in the midst of all the sheep. Until they got a little loud or the dog barked, then he didn't think is was so fun.

Brady's trip to see the baby lambs

Brady and I spent Friday morning at Anne's house since she has 15 new baby lambs. It was fun to watch Brady with them. This Mama looks like she is telling Brady a secret. He didn't even mind.

Going through withdrawals!

Today is Jason's last day off since they had Emma so I decided to stay home and let him and his sweet little family enjoy the day together. I did get to talk to Afton this morning and got my update so I feel a bit better but I sure miss them. I miss loving on Brady and watching him walk all over, getting into things, and I miss holding lil miss Emma. Afton and Jason don't let me love and cuddle with them so i can't quite elaborate there. (j/k) Here are some pics of their sweet family for all to enjoy!

Isn't she just precious!!

Just a few pics of our little Ladybug! Enjoy! Wish everyone could snuggle with her! She is so tiny and delicate! My heart swells with joy when I stop and realize just how lucky she is to have been in our Father in Heaven's presence, right by the side of our Savior! What a sweet and special spirit she is! I pray that my Dad and Grandma were able to love on her before she came to earth! I just love her soooooo much!

What a beautiful Sabbath day!

My how plans can change when you least expect it. Got a call from Jason this morning at 6:00am letting us know that Afton had been having contractions since 1:00am. They were now a little less than 5 minutes apart. Imagine the scene on Home Alone when the family didn't get up in time to catch their plane; yes, utter chaos! I have never showered so fast in my life. We all got to the hospital at 7:00am and after she was checked in, her oh so WONDERFUL nurse Louise reported that she was already dilated 7cm! Awesome! She had some really INTENSE contractions and at one point I just knew she wanted to change her mind about the whole delivery process. When Louise asked her if she wanted anything, Afton pleaded for an epidural. Too late to be thinking about an epidural at this point was Louise's response. Afton tried to convince herself that she couldn't do this on her own, but much to her surprise she did a TERRIFIC job! Dr. Chang came in to check her progress and confirmed that she was 7cm, but also noted that their was some meconium present. He explained to Afton that it was very important that she follow all of his instructions because Emma needed to be delivered as fast as possible without complications. Not too much longer after Dr. Chang left the room Louise suggested she lay on her left side to move things along. She promised Afton that by doing so she would have Emma real quick. A couple of contractions later she then had Afton roll on to her back, but in the process Afton was having an intense contraction and said it was time to push. Dr. Chang came in, along with a couple of nurses, burily having time to get things set up and into place. Approximately 3 pushes later and encouragement from Dr. Chang and his team of wonderful nurses, Emma's head was out. Dr. Chang was able to suction the meconium out and Afton was able to hold off from pushing til he gave her the go ahead! Once she was given permission, our little precious Emma entered this world at 8:22am! Only 1 hour and 22 minutes after arriving at the hospital and no epidural! Way to go Afton! I know you can predict what I am going to write next.......SHE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! She has a lot of gorgeous blonde hair. She reminds me of Goldilocks! She weighed 6lbs. 7.5oz, was 19" long, and can she ever scream!

Tomorrows the big day!

We always look forward to watching General Conference as a family. It is a small and simple tradition to have a big breakfast and then watch conference together. Terica and Travis were unable to watch conference with us this year so they missed out on the yummy breakfast. I think one of my very favorite happenings in watching conference was in the afternoon session when Brady was playing, and as he was learning to master the art of walking, he wanted up on the couch with Greg and I. We looked at a book, then he leaned up against Greg. His little feet and legs were across my lap and he just "chilled". I started rubbing his arm and he loved it. He is definitely like his Mommy in that area. She always loved for her arms to be rubbed. Anyway, he was so comfortable he just fell asleep across us. It was absolutely WONDERFUL. i LOVE HIM SO MUCH! All of the talks were much needed. Can't wait for the Ensign to come out.
Afton said that the hospital called her this morning and told her to hold off on coming to the hospital to get induced. This took her by surprise as she didn't realize she was scheduled to be induced today. Her and Dr. Chang briefly talked about it last Monday but did not set anything in stone. Apparently he thought they did, cause he was ready! After much thought, she did decide to let him induce her tomorrow (Sunday) instead. She is scheduled to be there at 8:00 am. The nurse told her to be there at 6:30am but she suggested 8 instead and they agreed. So tomorrow is the big day. I hope all goes well for her and Emma. I am so excited to hold our little ladybug. I keep letting myself travel down "worry lane" occasionaly. Okay, more often than not! I would give anything to release myself from the bondage of worry! Anyway, tomorrow is going to be a great day. She is hoping for the 6th of April to be her birthday, but will accept the 5th also. She is still such a trooper. No complaints, never whines! I am so proud of her!
